This past weekend we went camping for Jeremy's birthday, at Memorial as is the tradition. On Sunday as we were packing up to leave, Hayley's tooth came out! We could already see the adult one making its way down. Hoping that the other side will break through soon; it'll have a harder time cutting the gum as that section has been closed for awhile.
I had put the tooth in a ziploc and she kept it in her coat pocket. When we got home, she went to get her tooth to put under her pillow, but somehow it had disappeared! So she wrote this note to the tooth fairy and left it under her pillow instead:
This is what the tooth fairy wrote back, along with her money:
"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth..." anyone remember that song from grade school?
She knows the tooth fairy is comprised of her parents. But it's fun to play along! :)
To me I always felt convicted about lying to my kids, be it the tooth fairy, santa claus, whatever. If they can't trust me to tell them the truth, then why should they trust me about God? I know that's way deep, but it's how I feel. I try to answer their questions as honestly and as age-appropriately as I can, because I really feel like kids understand more than we give them credit for. It doesn't mean we can't have fun and pretend, but we keep it real in this house, you know what I'm sayin? Word.
